Everyone has a favourite movie poster, an image that tickled you as a kid.
When you couldn’t hold back, the excitement, till the movie would arrive in your local cinema.
My earliest memory of a poster that excited me probably must have been the living daylights, 007 James bond, in UK quad format 30×40.
The first time Dalton took the helm.
I was so excited!!
Wow what an image. Obviously, I knew of all the posters pre-Dalton.
But this was mine, the one I saw live in tube stations around London, and advertising billboards all over town.
This was my special poster, catching my eye sometimes subliminal.
Then finally the day came, I was in front of the cinema, waiting in line!
Lights camera action, pre-credit James Bond gun barrel sequence.
And I was in heaven! Noshing on my sweet popcorn and sipping my king-sized coke!
These are memories, that one will never forget.
That is why collecting movie mem, will never go out of fashion.
Sotheby’s, Christie’s will always get top dollar, for these pieces, because in our hearts we all remember those exact moments, of pure joy and bliss, of being young and excited.
Movie poster art is a flashback to childhood, experiences, of first dates in a movie theatre, with a girl named Grace
We are reliving our past, our wonder years.
And that is something that we relive every time we walk past that poster, that might adorn our walls, many years later.
The ten grand the bidder spent, is reminding him of his youth, his childhood and the magic that movie made him feel.
