Rare As Hens Teeth
Fire Over England (London Film, 1937).
This film stars a radiant Flora Robson as Queen Elizabeth I and a dashing Lawrence Olivier as her double agent Michael Ingolby, who is sent by the Queen herself to infiltrate the heart of the court of Spain. Ingolby manages to uncover several English traitors from Elizabeth’s court and warn her of the attack of the Spanish Armada. Vivien Leigh portrays the love interest for her soon-to-be husband in real life. The film was made in Britain two years before the outbreak of World War II, and became a hidden rallying cry for Englishmen everywhere as they braced themselves for a potential war with Germany.
