Group 3 was a studio set up in 1951 to utilize the Eady Levy (a charge on box office receipts designed to support the British film industry) & aimed to train young production staff working on low-budget productions. Michael Balcon (Ealing Studios) was involved & a mix of earnest subjects & more light-hearted comedy films ensued (until 1955 when the Studios closed). The Ealing Studios connection is reflected in the fact that Group 3 Quad posters were of a very high standard, often painted by artists from the Ealing “stable”. “Judgment Deferred” was the first film Group 3 released.
