From the film’s original release, this chilling, first-release Czech poster pictures Peter Lorre in one of his most famous roles.

This is a beautiful image from the great Fritz Lang classic. This extremely rare poster seems to be the only one that still exists! It has a small chip from the upper left top and some wear to the lower border.

Director Fritz Lang took European darkness to American cinema and made a series of noir classics, including The Big Heat, Scarlet Street, and Woman in the Window. Now seen as the precursor of the film noir genre, Lang’s M made Peter Lorre a star. Based on a true story, Lorre portrays a child murderer pursued by the German police and the criminal underworld.
